FOR SALE
1948 Hudson Commodore 8 2dr Club Coupe, 8-cyl., 254cid/128hp 2bbl, 3-speed manual

Pulled from an old tobacco barn where it had been sitting on blocks since 1958. This rare Hudson coupe has great surface patina with no rust through on the body panels, save for the bottom of the passenger door.

The Commodore 8 was the top of the line and the first year of the stepdown design. Very few of these coupes remain and this unmolested original car is ripe for restoration or the ultimate – only original once – Hudson ratrod. Options on this car include 2-tone paint, 2-tone wood grained dash and Goodyear foam rubber cushions.

1948 Hudson Commadore Coupe

1948 Hudson Commodore 8 Coupe after washing 50+ years of barn dust off. Photo shows passenger door the only rust through on the entire car is at the bottom of the door.

The stainless steel bright work is in great condition, while the chrome and potmetal trim show pitting and rust. Trim parts and bumpers for 48 and 49 are readily available on Ebay or swap meets as the 4-door sedan shared all the same potmetal and chrome with the much rarer coupe.

The 254 straight 8 engine turns freely by hand.

wood grained dash

The 2-tone woodgrain dash is in great condition and the odometer reads 87,140 miles. The seat cushions and upholstery will need to be replaced, but the frames and springs are all there and in good shape. The woodgrain panels for rear seat handles and rope are in very good condition.

Beautiful unrestored patina

A very solid body all around. All curved glass (windshield and rear window) is in great condition. Door glass on both sides has cracking, front vent glass and rear quarter windows have some frosting., but none of the glass is broken.
